Chapter Ten
Scotty’s alarm buzzed, and he climbed out of bed, shuffling across the room to the dresser where his clock sat. He hated the damn thing—hated waking early on mornings when he just wanted to sleep. Today wasn’t a workday, but he wanted to see Wesley later, and he needed to get his yard work accomplished before he went off to play.
After coffee and a quick trip to the garden center, he began spreading mulch and planting flowers. He was almost done when his phone rang. He checked the caller ID, glad to see it was Wesley calling him.
“Hello, Wesley.”
Silence greeted him, then Wesley cleared his throat. “I was wondering if we could, I don’t know—I want to see you tonight. I miss you.”
Scotty smiled to himself and tried to keep the laughter out of his voice. “And what precisely would you like me to do about that?”
“I-I think we should—well, I think you should come over, and I could cook for you.”
“What would you cook?”
He could hear the refrigerator opening and closing. “I have pasta. I could make spaghetti.”
“I’ll bring the meatballs.”
“Is that a joke?” Wesley sounded confused.
“No, I really will bring meatballs. And Wesley…”
“Yes?”
“I wanted to see you tonight too, thank you for calling.”
Wesley blew out a huge breath. “Oh thank God, I thought for sure you would be mad.”
“Why would I be mad at you?”
“You always seem so in control, and I’m not. I feel like a child compared to you.”
Scotty’s stomach turned. He stayed in control to keep people at an emotional distance, and he really didn’t want to do that to Wesley—at least, he didn’t want to do that to him anymore. In the beginning, he’d not cared, but after getting to know the man, he cherished their time together, and that was the reason he’d made a few stupid mistakes.
“I don’t think of you as a child. You’re very much a man, a very desirable man who I want to spend more time with.”
“Oh.”
“I’ll be at your place at six tonight. Does that sound good?”
“Yes. I can’t wait to see you.”
Scotty hung up and checked the time. It was a little after three, and he still needed to go to the store to buy meatballs. He cleaned up the lawn equipment and put away the extra mulch. After surveying his work, he was satisfied.
The warm shower felt good after a day in the yard. He stood under the spray and thought about taking the edge off, pumping his cock and letting his balls empty, but he had more than enough self-control to wait until after he and Wesley ate dinner.
He dressed in jeans and a button-down shirt, checking in the mirror to make sure his appearance met his high standards for himself. A flash of a memory, his body covered with dirt, his hair in knots and his belly empty, filled his mind. He shivered, trying like hell to push the image away. Dwelling on the pain and suffering he’d endured left him angry and helpless.
